About Leanna

Leanna Jahnke moved to Princeton in 2023 with her husband Dave and three children. She is a passionate educator and has spent nearly 17 years leading school communities and equitable education initiatives. As a former teacher and school administrator, Leanna has experience teaching in the classroom, coaching and training teachers, and advocating for families at charter schools in Houston, TX, and throughout New Jersey.

As a nonprofit leader, her work at local and national nonprofits includes developing and implementing various education programs for low-income, immigrant communities in Mercer County, ensuring college access efforts for low-income, high-achieving students across the U.S., and supporting the establishment of Princeton University's inaugural campus-wide engagement experience.

Currently, Leanna serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Princeton Nursery School, a nonprofit preschool program located in the heart of Witherspoon-Jackson that ensures exceptional and early childhood education for students and provides supportive and equitable wraparound services for families.

Leanna graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Hispanic Studies and also completed her MS in Nonprofit Leadership from her alma mater. She serves as Chair on the Municipality of Princeton’s Committee on Affordable Housing, Racial, Economic, Social Equity and Services whose goal is to foster an environment of inclusion, empathy, and empowerment in Princeton by championing accessible human services, affordable housing, and the advancement of civil rights. She is an active community participant at Princeton Public School’s Board of Education meetings to uplift the voices and needs of Black and brown, low and moderate-income, and immigrant students and families.

When not working or volunteering, Leanna enjoys creating and hosting themed events for her family like her annual "Jahnke-ween" Halloween party and personalized birthday parties for her kids, nieces, and nephews, which have included "Kid Karaoke" and "Toddler Field Day."
